The Dupont impact tester sandwiches a test piece such as a painted steel plate or a plastic sheet between a punch with a spherical tip having a fixed radius and a cradle with a recess of the same size as the tip of the lead. The weight is dropped or collided from a certain height, and the presence or absence and degree of breakage of the test piece are observed to evaluate the impact resistance. There are two types according to the maximum drop height, one with a maximum drop height of 50 cm and the other with a maximum drop height of 1 m. The 1m type is mainly used for testing plastic sheets.
