The Izod impact tester supports a hard plastic test piece with or without a notch with a cantilever and impacts it with a rotary hammer to destroy it, measures the energy value required for destruction, and obtains the Izod impact value. The tester is used to judge the characteristics such as impact resistance, brittleness, and toughness of materials.
