Shopper Probation Tester

By rotating the lead screw, the lower chuck moves to pull the specimen while, at the same time, the load is transmitted through the upper chuck to act as a force that swings the pendulum. The pointer then indicates the load value on the arcuate scale plate.

When the load reaches its maximum value, the pendulum is held in position by a pawl (ratchet), allowing the maximum load (usually the breaking load) to be read.
